Body found in Logan Canyon ruled homicide, victim’s son taken into custody

CACHE COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — The case of a body found in Logan Canyon on Friday has been deemed a homicide, and the victim’s son is now in custody, according to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim has been identified as Dennis Shaw, 77, of Logan. Cache County deputies arrested his son, Clayton Shaw, 33, Saturday morning.

On Sept. 27, an individual walking in Logan Canyon came across the deceased individual and contacted police. Deputies, along with personnel from the Utah State Crime Lab, responded to process the scene.

The case was deemed a homicide, and several search warrants have been or are currently being executed by detectives on two residences and several vehicles, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives are asking anyone with information concerning the case, including Clayton’s black BMW and the victim’s white Ford F-150 truck, to contact the sheriff’s office at 435-755-1100. You can also leave information on the sheriff’s office’s tip line here .

The parking lot at Franklin Basin is reportedly now open.
