Salt Lake City named one of America’s top 40 food cities for your wallet

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Salt Lake foodies are being given a reason to rejoice this morning as Salt Lake City has been named one of the top food cities for your wallet in the United States. According to WalletHub, Salt Lake City lands at number 33 on the list of over 180 cities.

Topping off the list were Miami, San Francisco, and Orlando. Portland and Tampa finish off the top five.

“To determine the best and cheapest local foodie scenes, WalletHub compared 182 cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across two key dimensions, ‘Affordability’ and ‘Diversity, Accessibility & Quality.'” the release from WalletHub said.

Other cities in the region that also made the list include:

• West Valley City, UT (#177)
• Phoenix, AZ (#29)
• Scottsdale, AZ (#35)
• Reno, NV (#40)
• Las Vegas, NV (#7)
• Denver, CO (#9)
• Henderson, NV (#163)
• Boise, ID (#130)

The metrics WalletHub looked at ranged from the cost of groceries to the average ranking of restaurants on Yelp’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.” list.

“The top cities cater not just to people who enjoy dining out, but also to foodies who enjoy putting their own skills to the test by exploring new flavors in their kitchens,” the release says.

While Salt Lake City doesn’t have a Michelin Star restaurant, Salt Lake City still has a good list of restaurants to choose from.

3. The Copper Onion
4. Salt and Olive
5. Red Iguana
6. Franklin Ave. Cocktails and Kitchens
7. HallPass
8. Carson Kitchen

10. Koyote
