SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A 75-year-old woman died after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Saratoga Springs on Monday morning, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office .

The pedestrian was critically injured and died shortly after she arrived at a hospital in Murray. The sheriff’s office said police and fire officials from Saratoga Springs responded to the scene and performed CPR on the pedestrian before she was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

The driver who hit the 75-year-old woman remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Because she is an employee of Saratoga Springs City, Police asked the Utah County Sheriff’s office to investigate the crash to avoid any conflict of interest,” UCSO said, referring to the driver who hit the pedestrian.

The incident is still under investigation. Officials said more information may be provided after the investigation concludes.

There is no further information at this time.
