LEHI, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A paraglider died over the weekend after officials say he lost control and slammed into a slope in Lehi.

According to Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office the man, identified only as a 56-year-old, was paragliding at the Flight Park State Recreation Area in Lehi on Oct. 6.

He was on the south side of the slope when he lost control and crashed into the slope, causing critical injuries.

Cannon said the man was taken to a local hospital by helicopter, where he later died.

Another paraglider — who Cannon called a “Good Samaritan” — called the incident in to report it.

There is no further information at this time.
