PARK CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Summit County’s Emergency Management Office has issued an immediate evacuation order for the rapidly spreading Yellow Lake Fire.

Summit County urges extreme caution due to ‘erratic’ Yellow Lake Fire

“An immediate evacuation has been issued for the area north of Mirror Lake Highway between the Yellow Pine Trailhead at Mile Marker 6 and the Highline Trail at Mile Marker 35. Please gather your belongings and leave the area immediately,” the warning from the National Weather Service and Summit County Emergency Management said.

The fire has now burned nearly 24,000 acres and is 18% contained, according to the Utah Fire Dashboard.

The Yellow Lake Fire has been burning through the Uinta Mountains since Sept. 28. Currently, the North and West Forks of the Duchesne River are under a mandatory “GO” evacuation, meaning all residents, hunters, and recreationists must leave and stay out of the area.

The U.S. Forest Service said the Granddaddy Lakes area in the Ashley National Forest and the unincorporated community of Hanna are under a “SET” order. The SET order advises residents to have bags packed and be prepared to evacuate at a moment’s notice if necessary.
