Train vs. vehicle accident causes TRAX delays

Update, 12:45 p.m.:

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — New details regarding the TRAX collision Friday morning have been released.

A white vehicle was reportedly heading eastbound on 800 South when it collided with a Red Line TRAX train. The driver received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to UTA.

The train was reportedly derailed, but will be able to continue on the tracks once put back on. No one on the train was injured.

A bus bridge is in place until the train can be refitted to the tracks.

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — A TRAX collision involving a vehicle occurred in Salt Lake City Friday morning, according to the Utah Transit Authority.

UTA posted the alert at 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 11: “Expect a delay of 20 to 45 minutes on the Red Line southbound from 900 South to Fashion Place West and at all points in between due to Train vs Auto incident.”

Just after 12 p.m., UTA said to expect a delay of 20 to 45 minutes on all lines between Courthouse and Ballpark due to the incident.

A bus bridge is reportedly active between Courthouse and Ballpark stations at this time.
