SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Friday, Utah! The weekend has arrived and we’re tracking more of the same weather conditions. That means we’re looking at dry and very warm weather sticking around through Saturday, thanks to a southwest flow.

Temperatures will stay high today, with a few degrees shaved off by Saturday. Northern Utah will be 15-20 degrees above normal, with Salt Lake City near the record high today of 87° with a high of 86° expected. Southern Utah will also stay unusually warm, running 10-15 degrees above normal.

Smoke from the Yellow Lake Fire will linger overnight and early morning in areas like Kamas and the Duchesne River drainage, but it should clear out by early afternoon through the weekend.

Looking ahead, a weak low-pressure system moves in Sunday, but it’s not bringing much relief. Temperatures will still be 10-15 degrees above normal, and rain chances are slim, mainly for Sunday afternoon through Monday, especially in the mountains. Even if it rains, we’re only looking at tiny amounts.

By mid-next week, a stronger system will bring cooler temps and some rain to northern Utah and southwest Wyoming, but there’s still a lot of uncertainty about how much rain and how cold it’ll get.

Expect some gusty winds ahead of this system by Wednesday, and fire weather could be a concern. Snow might hit higher elevations (around 9,500 feet), but we’ll need to keep an eye on how things shape up later in the week.

Of course, we’ll keep you posted on the latest changes in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
