ROOSEVELT CITY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Roosevelt City Police released a statement Monday night addressing the community’s concerns about the case of a missing woman found dead in her car last week .

Kimberly Hyde , 60, was found dead in her vehicle on Tuesday, Oct. 8, after she was reported missing the day prior. No information was released about her cause of death due to the pending investigation.

Many community members took to social media asking authorities about public safety and for any updates available. Several commentators expressed fear for their safety and others drew conclusions that she was murdered, pointing to the part in the obituary that says she “was taken from this life.”

Roosevelt City Chief of Police Mark J. Watkins posted on social media “to address the recent rumors and public concerns surrounding the Kimberly Hyde case.”

“While we are unable to release certain details at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation, we want to assure the community that there is no heightened threat to public safety connected with this case. Roosevelt residents remain safe,” he wrote.

Watkins also assured the community that they would provide an update as soon as possible, likely within the next few days.

“We recognize that this has been a challenging time for everyone in our community, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, support, and trust as we continue our work on this case,” he said.

Roosevelt City is a small town located in eastern Utah on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation.
