LAYTON, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Layton police are searching for a white cargo van they believe was involved in a hit-and-run on Wednesday night that killed a 41-year-old man.

The victim, who has only been identified by his age, was reportedly crossing the street at 1100 North and Main Street just after 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 when he was struck by the van. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the van suspected of hitting the man did not stop after the collision and is still at large.

The van is described as being an “older” cargo van with a single window on the passenger side sliding door. Authorities said the hit-and-run caused substantial damage to the van, including front-end damage to the hood, grill, and passenger-side headlight.

If anyone recognizes the van or has any additional information about the case, they are asked to contact the Layton City Police Department by calling 801-497-8300.
