    Fourth person arrested in Mt. Olympus homicide from August

    SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A fourth person has been arrested and charged in connection to a homicide that happened in August at the Mt. Olympus Trailhead in Salt Lake County.

    Christian De La Rosa, 17, is being tried as an adult in connection to the murder of Naod Welday , 18. De La Rosa is charged with one count of murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of felony discharge of a firearm with serious bodily injury, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of assault. All charges have a gang enhancement to them.

    On Aug. 3, Welday was found shot and killed after documented gang members allegedly attacked Welday and his friends. The 18-year-old suffered multiple fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Previously, police arrested Alexander Ruiz-Martinez , 19, Mateo Martinez, 20, and a 15-year-old juvenile in connection to the crime.

    According to charging documents, police believe that Christian De La Rosa lives in the same residence as Christopher De La Rosa, the suspect in the stabbing of Kian Hamilton .

    After the shooting at the Mt. Olympus trailhead, Christian De La Rosa’s phone was placed near a separate shooting that took place in Midvale that is also gang-related.

    De La Rosa is currently in custody awaiting a court date.

    Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
