DAVIS COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A victim has been identified in a fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday night in Clearfield.

The victim of the crash was identified as Romualdo Hernandez Sanchez, 35, of Saratoga Springs. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to the Utah Department of Transportation, I-15 southbound was closed at exit 334 (700 South, Clearfield) in Davis County due to the deadly crash. A blue Chevy Silverado was pulled over in the HOV lane of I-15 at the time of the incident.

“A silver Malibu was in the HOV lane and had another vehicle ahead of it swerve the last second to the right. The driver of the Malibu swerved to the left, clipped the rear of the Silverado, struck the pedestrian (35-year-old driver), and crashed along the concrete wall,” Utah Highway Patrol stated on Friday afternoon.

“The Malibu was occupied by a 25-year-old male and another male passenger, both sustained minor injuries. There is a possibility the 35-year-old male was changing his left rear wheel,” UHP said.

This case is still under investigation and no further information has been released.
