LEHI, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Lehi Police confirmed officials have located a missing six-year-old boy who was supposed to be going to a friend’s house but never arrived Friday afternoon.

Due to his age and his safe return, ABC4.com is declining to name the child.

The boy had been known to “wander off significant distances,” according to a Lehi Police Facebook post. The Department of Public Safety confirmed to ABC4.com a helicopter had briefly been involved in the search.

The boy was missing for around six hours this afternoon. He was” not familiar with the area” and in the past had “been known to find bikes or scooters laying around and use them as transport,” according to police.

At around 10:40 p.m., the department posted that the boy had been found and was back with his family.

“Thank you for your assistance, it was impressive to see how many people showed up to give assistance,” it stated.
