    Hermon-DeKalb final Superintendent candidate selected

    HERMON-DEKALB, N.Y. (WWTI) — The Hermon-DeKalb Central School Board of Education has selected its final candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

    The current Superintendent of Schools Mark White announced that he will retire on June 30, 2024.

    It’s no secret that Hermon-DeKalb Central School is truly a special place ,” White said “ I consider myself lucky to have formed such close bonds with our school community. I am truly honored to have had the privilege to lead this school district .”

    Last week, the board conducted preliminary interviews with three candidates and then selected two finalists for community and stakeholder group interviews. Following the interviews, one finalist withdrew from consideration.

    The district’s K-12 principal since July 2015, Ms. Megan Foster, will present to community and stakeholder groups on Tuesday, February 27.

    Financial literacy classes growing in high schools, with middle school the next target

    Before serving as the Hermon-DeKalb principal, Ms. Foster worked as a Reading Specialist and Pre-K teacher at Colton-Pierrepont Central School, after which she was the Director of Migrant Education for the Research Foundation and as an adjunct professor for the Literacy Department at SUNY Potsdam. She has received a masters and a Bachelor of Science in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh and has earned her Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from St. Lawrence University.
