DE KALB, JUNCTION, N.Y. (WWTI) – A number of Hermon-DeKalb Central School students are honoring veterans and active service members for their capstone project.

The students are developing community banners to recognize veterans of the district. The banners will feature veterans and active service members who have attended and graduated from Hermon-DeKalb Central School (exceptions will be made for veterans who were drafted in wartime). Eligible veterans can be currently serving, honorably discharged or retired. This honor also extends to veterans who have passed away, making them eligible for recognition too.

Orders for the banners will be accepted through Friday, March 15. To order, individuals must fill out an order form located on the school district website, www.hdcsk12.org . For a one-sided banner, the cost is $45. For a two-sided banner, the cost is $90.

The district hopes to display the banners by Memorial Day in the towns of DeKalb and Hermon. The banners are expected to be displayed annually in both communities.

The project is being done with the help of 2023 Hermon-DeKalb graduate Sean Robinson and his company, Robinson Art & Design.
