    Local Students show off skills in Problem Solving at competition

    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) — On Saturday, March 2, 2024, 126 students from Region 8 and 9 displayed their creativity during the Odyssey of the Mind Regional competition at Case Middle School.

    Teams who placed first place or, for a few teams who held advancing positions in second place — they will be headed for New York State Competition in Syracuse at the Syracuse Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 13. For teams going to the New York State Competition in Syracuse spectators will be welcome and more information can be found on the NY Odyssey of the Mind’s State Finals webpage .

    Problem 1 — Division I — Drive-In Movie :

    • First Place — Lowville Central School A
    • Second Place — Lura Sharp Elementary School

    • Second Place — Lowville Central School

    Cabin Fever JAMboree: North Country musicians called to the stage

    There were also three OMER Awards granted which are given in recognition of individuals or teams who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, exemplary behavior or exceptional talent:

    • Opening Night Antics — Division I — Lowville Central School A — Vance Team
    • Rocking World Detour — Division I — Lowville Central School A — Sullivan
    • Rocking World Detour — Individual OMER — Madilyn Mattimore — Beaver River
