CANTON, N.Y. (WWTI) – The St. Lawrence County Youth Bureau will be offering a hands-on workshop by motivational speaker, Adam F.C. Fletcher to help foster beneficial working relationships between youth and adults.

School organizations and youth-serving programs can become more successful when youth have a voice and involvement in decision-making governance. When youth are invited to join boards, committees, and organizations they feel more empowered, have stronger leadership skills and sense of belonging.

The workshop takes place on Tuesday, March 19 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This workshop is primarily directed toward adults and educators working in youth-serving organizations and programs.

Our Teen Ambassadors, serving on our Youth Committee, often say they feel valued and part of our community when they have input especially on issues that directly affect their lives. We want to support local youth-serving organizations who know they want youth representation but don’t know where or how to start ,”

Alexa Backus Chase, Youth Bureau Director

Fletcher has been the leader of the Freechild Institute for Youth Engagement, for over 20 years, and has found powerful patterns, created meaningful tools and launched massive programs affecting the lives of over a million children and youth worldwide.

    • Empowering new change.

The workshop is free and participants will receive a copy of Fletcher’s book thanks to funding provided by The Association of New York State Youth Bureaus.
