WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) — Buildings in the Watertown City School District were put into a “hold in place” Monday afternoon.

WCSD Superintendent Dr. Larry Scmiegel initiated a hold-in-place for all schools around 1 p.m. on April 15, according to a message to parents.

This was due to a “neighborhood issue,” according to Dr. Schmiegel, and the hold remained in effect until the issue was resolved.

There was also a large police presence outside the Community Action Planning Council on Davidson Street the same afternoon.

City of Watertown Police Dispatch confirmed that the hold-in-place was a precautionary measure, but did not give specific details.

This is a developing story. ABC50 will continue to provide updates as more information is available.

It wasn’t a good situation yet seems all hush hush. The folks who were there deserve an explanation.
