Watertown, South Jefferson earn No. 2 seeds in boys lacrosse brackets

SYRACUSE, NY (WWTI/WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Both the Watertown and South Jefferson boys lacrosse teams received the No. 2 seed in their respective Section 3 brackets that were released on Monday afternoon.

Watertown is the second seed in Class B and will host the winner of third-seeded East Syracuse-Minoa and No. 6 Fulton. Perennial power West Genesee is the top seed in the bracket.

South Jefferson is the two seed in Class C will host No. 7 Whitesboro on Wednesday. The Spartans have only lost one game since April 16. Whitesboro and South Jefferson have not played each other this season.

Fourth-seeded New Hartford will host No. 5 Carthage. The Spartans beat the Comets 6-4 back on Friday, April 12. Indian River is the No. 6 seed and visits third-seeded Homer in a quarterfinal game. Longtime power Jamesville-DeWitt is top seed in that tournament.

General Brown is the number four seed in Class D and hosts fifth-seeded Cazenovia in a quarterfinal game on Wednesday. Frontier League rivals square off today as eighth-seeded Lowville hosts No. 9 Thousand Islands on Tuesday. The winner draws top-seeded Marcellus at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Sectional finals in all tournaments are slated to take place on Wednesday, May 29 at either Fulton or Fayetteville-Manlius.

Semifinal Wednesday, May 22

#3 East Syracuse-Minoa/#6 Fulton vs. #2 Watertown, 11 a.m.

Class C

First Round – Wednesday, May 22

#5 Carthage at #4 New Hartford, 5:30 p.m.

#7 Whitesboro at #2 South Jefferson, 6 p.m.

#6 Indian River at #3 Homer, 7 p.m.

Semifinals: Saturday, May 25 — 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Fayetteville-Manlius High School.
Finals: Wednesday, May 29 at either Fulton or Fayetteville-Manlius High School, time TBD.

Class D

First Round – Tuesday, May 21

#9 Thousand Islands at #8 Lowville, 4:30 p.m.

• Winner plays at #1 Marcellus, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday

Quarterfinals – Wednesday, May 22

#5 Cazenovia at #4 General Brown, 7 p.m.

TI/Lowville winner at #1 Marcellus, 6:30 p.m.

Semifinals: Saturday, May 25, – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Chittenango HS.

Finals: Wednesday, May 29 at either Fulton or Fayetteville-Manlius High School, time TBD.
