OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Aerial spraying for mosquitoes in Oswego County will happen on Thursday, August 15, at roughly 7 p.m. over the Toad Harbor/Big Bay Swamp area, the Oswego County Health Department announced.

The spray area is bounded by U.S. Route 11 in Central Square to the west, NYS Route 49 to the north, the shoreline of Oneida Lake to the south and up to the village of Constantia to the east.

Pesticides will not be sprayed over the open waters of Oneida Lake, the health department said.

Spraying is weather dependent. If it is postponed due to weather, residents will be notified on the county’s website .

A diluted version of the pesticide Kontrol 30-30 will be used for spraying. More information on the pesticide can be found here.

This spraying comes as four new mosquito samples in Oswego County recently tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus (EEE).
