    Jefferson County residents urged to fill out flooding damage surveys

    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Jefferson County residents are urged to fill out storm damage surveys from last week’s severe weather.

    In a post on Watertown Mayor Sarah Compo-Pierce’s Facebook page, she asked local homeowners and businesses to fill out online surveys to report damages to New York State.

    There are a number of counties, including St. Lawrence County, that are eligible for state funding to help cover damages. However, Jefferson County was not included on the list.

    Mayor Compo-Pierce is hoping enough Jefferson County residents fill out the form to make a case that the City of Watertown and the county can be included.

    A number of homes and businesses dealt with the flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Debby. Watertown High School even sustained flooding from the soaking rains.
