WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – The Development Authority of the North Country has reappointed Carl E. Farone, Jr. as the Executive Director by the organization’s Board of Directors.

Farone has been with the organization for 25 years. He was appointed executive director in July 2020. He held the roles of Deputy Executive Director and Chief Fiscal Officer before serving as Executive Director.

He started as a Project Development Specialist at the Development Authority, managing a $21 million lending portfolio, and was later actively involved in the creation of the Authority’s Open Access Telecommunications Network. Farone moved to the Finance office and in 2007 was named Comptroller after the system became operational. In 2019, he was promoted to Deputy Executive Director/Chief Fiscal Officer.

Farone has overseen the opening of the expansion of the regional landfill during his four years as director. He led the authority through challenges of COVID-19, guided significant enhancements to the regional broadband network, initiated significant investments in both water and wastewater infrastructure serving Fort Drum, and continued to ensure that the Authority is a valuable partner to North Country communities.
