    NYSP: Man allegedly tried to smuggle marijuana under vehicle’s hood

    MASSENA, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 62-year-old Hogansburg man allegedly tried to smuggle a large amount of marijuana under the hood of his car.

    According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to the Massena Port of Entry for a male attempting to smuggle a large amount of cannabis into the United States around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

    U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents interviewed the driver who was identified as Norman Gray.  A USCBP K-9 provided a positive alert on Gray’s vehicle.  A search of the vehicle revealed eight bags of cannabis underneath the hood of the vehicle.

    Gray was charged with third-degree criminal possession of cannabis- more than 16 ounces after being processed at the state police headquarters in Massena. He was arraigned in the Massena Town Court, where he was ticketed and released.
