SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Thursday, August 29 at 5:25 a.m., Syracuse Firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire at 1309 Lodi Street, on the City’s North Side.

When firefighters arrived at the multi-family home moments later they found what looked to be a pile of debris burning in the front of the two-story home.

Through the fire department’s investigation, they quickly realized that the fire was coming from the first floor inside the home.

As firefighters began to put out the fire and search the house for anyone trapped inside they determined that every person made it out however, firefighters did find and rescue a dog during their searches.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes, and the fire was declared out after approximately 30 minutes.

The multi-family home contains six apartments, and the fire occurred on the first floor of the center unit. That apartment received fire, smoke, and water damage. Other parts of the building also received smoke and water damage.

Fire Investigators at the home have determined that the fire began in the living room of the first floor and was caused by an unattended candle.

At least three people were displaced by this fire. No injuries were reported to people or firefighters.
