CENTRAL NEW YORK (WSYR-TV) — Interstate 81 southbound is back open near the Cortland/Broome County line after two tractor-trailer accidents overnight had it closed for hours.

Just before midnight in Broome County, a tractor-trailer hauling produce flipped and spilled food all over I-81 southbound. The incident happened between the Marathon and Whitney Point exits.

According to a NY Alert, there were no serious injuries from the crash.

Less than an hour after crews responded to that crash, two more tractor-trailers collided near Exit 10, McGraw (Polkville).

911 dispatchers told NewChannel 9, one of the rigs rear-ended the other tractor-trailer.

It took crews about five hours to clear that scene.

While I-81 southbound was closed, drivers were detoured off at Exit 10 onto US 11 South for reentry to I-81 southbound at the Exit 9 (Marathon) on-ramp.
