JCC names Fall 2024 first Athletes of the Week

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Jefferson Community College’s Athlete of the Week kicks off its 2024 Fall Semester with a two-for-one special for the Week Ending September 1, 2024, as both freshmen forward, Samantha Stokely of the JCC women’s soccer team, and sophomore midfielder, Tim Schaefer, of the JCC men’s soccer team share the title.

Stokely, a 2024 graduate of Copenhagen Central School, is majoring in Natural Sciences/Allied Health at JCC.

Stokely’s accomplishments on the pitch include starting her collegiate career with a hattrick versus Hudson Valley Community College and added two more goals in a game versus SUNY Broome Community College and Corning Community College. In the three matches, she had a total of 7 goals and 1 assist.

Schaefer, a 2023 graduate of Kaiserin Augusta Schule, Germany, is majoring in Sports Management at JCC.

Schaefer’s accomplishments on the pitch include igniting a 4-3 comeback win in the Cannoneers’ home opener versus Hudson Valley Community College, scoring 2 goals and adding 1 assist.  He then provided 3 assists in the following match in their win versus SUNY Broome Community College.

The Cannoneers’ next game will be women’s Volleyball on Tuesday, September 10 at 6 p.m. at Onondaga Community College.
