    SUNY Canton’s Family and Friends Weekend Sept. 13-15

    CANTON, N.Y. (WWTI) – SUNY Canton has announced that they are extending a special invitation to its dedicated alumni during this year’s Family and Friends Weekend, scheduled from Friday, September 13, to Sunday, September 15.

    The weekend kicks off with an Alumni Career and Mentorship panel discussion at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. Other opportunities for graduates to meet with faculty and students will be held throughout the weekend.

    CHJC announces expanded mental health services into Lewis County

    Schedule:

    Friday, September 13:

    • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. — Alumni Career & Mentorship Panel: Featuring David Snyder ’87 (ATG) and Jason Lashomb ’96 (ATG). More details to follow. Please note that the time of the session is subject to change.
    • 5 to 7 p.m. — Half Century Club Dinner (Non-members of 1974 class): Cost for all other guests, besides members of the Class of 1974.
    • 5 to 7 p.m. — Half Century Club Dinner (Class of 1974): Ticket for members of the Class of 1974. The cost is free.
    • 5 to 7 p.m. — SUNY Canton Volleyball vs. Alfred University at Roos House
    • 7 to 9 p.m. — SUNY Canton Volleyball vs. VTSU Johnson at Roos House

    Saturday, September 14:

    • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Campus Tour at Miller Campus Center, Top Floor: Hourly time slots available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please email burgessj@canton.edu to schedule your time slot.
    • 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. — Breakfast Buffet at Chaney Dining Hall
    • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Cyber Cafe Open at Cyber Cafe, Southworth Library: Grab a Starbucks coffee, a panini, wrap, or delicious baked goods at Cyber Café.
    • 10 to 11 a.m. — Fun with Faculty – School of Science, Health, and Criminal Justice: Join faculty from the School of Science, Health, and Criminal Justice (SHCJ) to see the latest happenings in the field.
    • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Fun with Faculty: Canino School of Engineering Technology: Join faculty and students from the Canino School of Engineering Technology (CSOET) at the Car Show!
    • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Car Show at Nevaldine Hall Parking Lot: Check out the cars from Seaway Valley Cruisers and more. Want to bring your car to the show? Email burgessj@canton.edu for more information.
    • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Fun with Faculty: School of Business & Liberal Arts: Join Associate Professor Kirk Jones ’02 for an interactive escape room exercise.
    • 12 to 1:30 p.m. — Lunch at Rendezvous: Enjoy heavy appetizers and conversations with special guests.
    • 1 to 2 p.m. — SUNY Canton Men’s Soccer @ SLU: Support the Men’s Soccer Team as they take on SLU! *Note – this game is at St. Lawrence University, not SUNY Canton.
    • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. — Annual Alumni Association Board Meeting: Attend the annual Alumni Association Board meeting to find out what the board has been up to, and hear a campus update from President Szafran.
    • 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. — Beer and Wine Tasting at Chaney Dining Hall – Outer Awning: Featuring spirits from local breweries and wineries.
    • 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. — Dinner – Reunite & Reflect at Chaney Dining Hall: Join the Homecoming and Family Weekend Crowd for dinner, buffet-style. Beer and Wine are included.
    • 9 to 10 p.m. – Fireworks: Join the campus community for a fireworks show at the water tower. The show will start at dusk, around 9 p.m.

    Sunday, September 15:

    • 12 to 2 p.m. — SUNY Canton Men’s Soccer vs. VTSU Castleton: Before you say goodbye, catch the Men’s Soccer team on their home turf as they take on VTSU Castleton!

    SUNY Canton’s Student Activities, Involvement and Leadership office will be holding pirate-themed activities all day on Saturday, with outdoor attractions and carnival-style games beginning at 2 p.m. Performances include a live band and a hypnotist.

    Schedule of activities & events:

    • 11 a.m.: Comedy Magic by Danny H
    • 12 to 5 p.m. (running during the entirety of the event):
      • Mechanical Shark;
      • Strongman High Striker;
      • Face Painters;
      • Gladiator Jousting;
      • Limbo;
      • Soccer Darts;
      • Movie Showings;
      • Free Pirate Swag; and more.
    • 2 to 4 p.m.: Dan Tressler & Friends Pirate Shanty (Live Music)
    • 7 p.m.: Nadeem Manuel the Hypnotist
    • 9 p.m./Dusk: Fireworks at the campus water tower
    St. Lawrence County Chamber alerting businesses regarding recent scams
