SALINA, N.Y. (WYSR-TV) — You ask, we answer!

One of the top questions to the Your Stories Team is about the future of the closed Christmas Tree Shops in Mattydale.

Recent construction on the once-popular store has led to several viewers reaching out to the YS Team, curious about the work being done.

According to the Town’s Planning and Development Director, Mark Lafaver, Raymour & Flanigan Furniture is remodeling the former Christmas Tree Shops and plans to open a store in that location.

Lafaver said crews recently tore down the distinct Christmas Tree Shops façade and the town just approved a construction permit so inside work could begin.

Lafaver said it’s unclear what Raymour & Flanigan has planned for the rest of the Northern Lights Plaza, that it purchased last spring .

He said the furniture company is trying to lure national retailers to the plaza but it’s unclear where those efforts stand.

A Raymour & Flanigan spokesperson told NewsChannel 9 that they were unable to provide updates at this time.

An update on the Salina Starbucks

Staying in Salina — lets update our viewers on the Starbucks being built at the former Burger King.

The Burger King, located at 104 Elmwood Davis Road, near the intersection of 7 th North Street and Buckley Road, closed in the fall of 2022.

Several viewers reached out to us this summer, asking for an update. The viewers said work appeared to have come to a halt.

Lafaver said crews have made a lot of progress on the building since the construction permit was granted a few weeks ago.

The building no longer looks like a Burger King and you can see the shell of the future Starbucks. There’s even a “coming soon” Starbucks sign on the property.

The Town of Salina did not know when construction will be completed. We’ll keep you updated!
