THE BRONX, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — As America honors their first responders on Wednesday, September 11, an investigator with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department will be honored by the New York Yankees.

Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol announced on Wednesday that investigator Ed Constantine will be honored during the Yankees game against the Kansas City Royals. During the seventh inning stretch, Constantine will be brought out onto the field, introduced to the crowd, and will be recognized during the Yankees’ traditional singing of “God Bless America.”

Constantine served in the United States Marine Corps from 2009 to 2013. He then served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 2014 to 2017. He served two tours overseas, in Afghanistan in 2011 and Kuwait in 2012.

Investigator Constantine has earned several medals during his tours of duty with the Marines, including:

    • The National Defense Medal,
    • The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
    • The Good Conduct Medal,
    • The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal,
    • The Afghanistan Campaign Medal,
    • The NATO Medal,
    • The Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and
    • The Meritorious Unit Citation.

Constantine joined the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office in 2015 and was promoted to Investigator in 2022. He is currently assigned to the Sheriff’s Domestic Violence Unit and the Mental Health/Crisis Response Unity. He is partnered with K-9 Addie — the office’s emotional support dog — who just celebrated her first birthday on Tuesday, September 10.

Tonight’s game can be seen on Amazon Prime Video. First pitch at Yankee Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
