WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Fort Drum soldiers got the green flag to enjoy last weekend’s festivities at Watkins Glen International race track.

A number of soldiers from the Upstate New York post got to meet with NASCAR professionals and enjoy the Go Bowling at the Glen NASCAR race while also being recognized for their service. This is thanks to the Troops to the Track program, which started in 2010.

Hamlin says he can win at Bristol and earn automatic berth in 2nd round of NASCAR playoffs

The program honors and pays tribute to the members of the U.S. armed forces. It has hosted over 3,000 Armed Forces service members from over 30 different installations/ships from around the country.

Troops to the Track is a way to help with community bonds between the military and the community. It also helps show soldiers that they are appreciated.
