    NNY high school football preview: September 26-28, 2024

    It’s Week 4 of high school football across Northern New York and we’re almost to the mid-way point of the regular season.

    Some pivotal matchups are taking place this weekend with playoff seeding implications.

    Dec. 7 Syracuse-Notre Dame basketball game to broadcast on CW14

    Let’s preview this weekend’s slate of game for September 26-28.

    Thursday, September 26

    Camden (0-3) at Carthage (3-0), 6 p.m.: It’s a key Section 3 Class B East matchup between the Blue Devils and the Comets. Camden is looking to rebounds from a 48-20 loss to Homer last week. Carthage looks to stay perfect after rally against rival Indian River, 41-38.

    Indian River (2-1) at Westhill (2-1), 6:30 p.m.: It’s a pivotal Class B West matchup as the Wolves travel to Syracuse to take on the Warriors. IR is looking to bounce back from a loss to Carthage while Westhill beat Vernon Verona Sherrill, 36-26, last week.

    Friday, September 27

    Canton (1-1) at Massena (0-3), 6 p.m.: It’s a Section 10 matchup as the Golden Bears battle the Red Raiders. Canton edged Gouverneur, 18-14, last week while Massena was blanked, 52-0, by Section 7’s Beekmantown.

    Watertown (2-1) at Fulton (1-2), 6:30 p.m.: It’s a Section 3 Class A matchup as the Cyclones look for their third straight win over the Red Raiders. Watertown beat PSLA at Fowler, 42-26, last Thursday while Central Square down Fulton, 60-20.

    Beaver River (2-1) at Oswego (0-2), 6:30 p.m.: The Beavers battle the Buccaneers in a nonleague contest. Beaver River beat Class D rival Sandy Creek,, 32-12, last weekend while Oswego lost 47-28 to Mexico.

    Adirondack (1-2) at General Brown (3-0), 7 p.m.: A rematch of last season’s Class C final has the Wildcats traveling to Dexter to play the Lions in our Game of the Week. Adirondack defeated Solvay, 20-12, while General Brown continued its hot start with a close 50-48 victory over Bishop Ludden/SAS.

    Gouverneur (1-1) at South Jefferson (2-0), 7 p.m.: It’s Section 10 versus Section 3 in a battle of area teams when the Wildcats make the trek down Route 11 to play the Spartans. Gouverneur was beaten by Canton last weekend while South Jeff topped Central Valley Academy, 30-20.

    Potsdam (3-0) at OFA (2-0), 7 p.m.: It’s an important Section 10 Class B game as the Sandstoners face the Blue Devils. Potsdam routed St. Lawrence Central, 56-13, while OFA shut out Malone, 38-0.

    Tupper Lake (2-0) at Thousand Islands (1-1), 7 p.m.: The Lumberjacks make the trek to Clayton to battle the Vikings in 8-Man action. Tupper Lake won via forfeit last week against Utica Notre Dame while TI is looking to bounce back after a 48-0 loss to Morrisville-Eaton.

    Saturday, September 28

    Malone (0-3) at St. Lawrence Central (0-3), noon: Both the Huskies and the Larries are looking for their first win of the season in this Section 10 matchup.

    Sandy Creek (1-1) at Pulaski (2-1), 1 p.m. : It’s an important Class D North/West matchup as the Comets battle the Blue Devils in an Oswego County rivalry game. Sandy Creek is hoping to rebound after a loss to Beaver River. Pulaski downed Westmoreland/Oriskany, 46-12.

    Lowville (2-1) at Holland Patent (2-1), 6 p.m.: Our last game of the week is a Section 3 Class C East game as the Red Raiders face the Golden Knights. Lowville rolled past Cazenovia, 46-24 last week while Holland Patent was beaten, 27-6, by Skaneateles.
