    Fall Foliage Report: Friday, September 27th

    SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – We are just a few days into the start of the fall season, and the leaves continue to slowly but surely turn color across much of the Empire State!

    Below is the latest fall foliage report from I Love NY :

    Adirondacks

    In Essex County:

    • 25% change at Whiteface Mountain , featuring bright seasonal colors. Progression is more advanced in the surrounding area, with 75% change in Wilmington and average to bright shades of red, purple, and orange.
    • 70% change in Newcomb with mostly reds and oranges.
    • 50% change in the high peaks around Lake Placid, and 35% change in the village, with an abundance of yellows and golds. Shades of red are prominent in the village proper, while a beautiful combination of fall colors spans the higher elevations.
    • 25-35% transition in the Crown Point area with varying gold and rust tones, highlighted by occasional oranges and dark reds.
    • More than 10% change in the Ticonderoga area .

    In Franklin County:

    • Up to 80% change in Tupper Lake and Mt. Arab with maize, bronze, copper, and salmon-colored leaves, accentuated by hues of saffron, paprika, pumpkin, merlot and burgundy.
    • 65-75% transition in Saranac Lake with average to bright yellow and gold tones, and some even brighter pops of orange and red.
    • 30% change in the Malone area with an increasing number of yellow leaves joining the reds and oranges.

    In Hamilton County:

    • 65% in Lake Pleasant with shades of orange, along with some red and gold.
    • 65% change in Long Lake with average to bright seasonal colors.

    In Herkimer County:

    • 70% change in Old Forge with muted oranges and yellows, along with pops of copper and red.

    In Lewis County:

    • 50% in Lowville with bright shades of orange and yellow, and occasional patches of red.

    In St. Lawrence County:

    • 65% change in Wanakena with deep purples, hints of vibrant orange and red, and plenty of yellow. Significant leaf droppage has also been noted.

    In Warren County:

    • 20% change in Lake George .
    • Up to 45% change in Queensbury with mostly yellow and orange colors.

    Capital Region

    In Albany County:

    • 20% change around the Cohoes Falls in Cohoes.
    • 25% progression at WildPlay Thacher at Thacher State Park in Voorheesville with bright yellow leaves, plus some brown and orange leaves, and hints of deep red. Transition elsewhere in the park is more progressed and should be at 35% by the weekend.

    In Fulton County:

    • Up to 50% in Northville at Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center with shades of red, purple, and yellow. Other parts of Northville expect foliage around 20% changed.

    In Rensselaer County:

    • 30-40% change in the county’s eastern and northern portions, and 20-30% in the southern and western portions.
    • 30% in downtown Troy with muted gold and orange leaves.

    In Saratoga County:

    • 25% change in Charlton with pops of red and gold over the mostly green backdrop.

    In Schenectady County:

    • 10% change at Central Park in Schenectady with mostly red leaves, accentuated by pops of yellow, purple and a little orange.
    • 10% change at Maple Ski Ridge in Rotterdam.

    Catskills

    In Delaware County:

    • 65% change in Delhi with yellow and orange leaves.
    • 50% in Colchester with a mix of autumnal shades.

    In Greene County:

    • 60-65% change in Windham , with foliage progression closer to 40% due east in Catskill .

    In Sullivan County:

    • 45% change in Liberty with red, purple, orange, and yellow leaves of mixed brilliance.
    • 25% change in Forestburgh with bright pops of fall color.

    In Ulster County:

    • 60% change in Highmount at Belleayre Mountain Ski Area with mostly red and orange leaves.

    Central New York

    In Broome County:

    • 25% change in Binghamton with bright yellow and red leaves.

    In Chenango County:

    • 45% change in Norwich , Preston , and Oxford with average to bright yellows and oranges, along with some caramel brown, and a touch of red. Of the three communities, foliage is changing the fastest in Preston.

    In Herkimer County:

    • 30% in Herkimer with a blend of autumn colors.

    In Madison County:

    • 10% change at Stone Quarry Art Park in Cazenovia with muted fall shades.

    In Montgomery County:

    • 15% in Fonda with touches of yellow.

    In Oneida County:

    • 40% leaf change in Utica with a combination of seasonal hues.

    In Otsego County:

    • 40% transition in Cherry Valley with a mix of average to bright fall colors.
    • 35% change in Cooperstown .

    In Schoharie County:

    • 20% progression in Middleburgh with mostly bright red leaves.

    Finger Lakes

    In Cayuga County:

    • More than 30% change in Auburn with muted reds and yellows.

    In Chemung County:

    • 20% change in Elmira with seasonal colors.

    In Cortland County:

    • 10% change in Cortland with early hints of yellow and orange.

    In Livingston County:

    • 20% change in Geneseo with mostly yellow and orange shades.

    In Monroe County:

    • 10% change in Rochester with olive and yellow leaves, along with wisps of red-orange on a few treetops. Areas to the east and southwest of the city appear to be more progressed in foliage change. 15-20% change is expected in the city’s Brighton neighborhood with green-yellow leaves, along with dark red-maroon coloration beginning to be seen in scattered trees.

    In Onondaga County:

    • 35% change at Syracuse University with some bright yellows and occasional bright reds from sugar maples.
    • 10% change at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville with some red and yellow leaves.

    In Ontario County:

    • 5-10% change in Geneva with small pockets of maroon and yellow.
    • Less than 5% in Canandaigua

    In Schuyler County:

    • 10% change in Watkins Glen , Hector , Montour Falls , and Tyrone with mostly muted yellow leaves, and some pops of orange.

    In Seneca County:

    • More than 30% change in Waterloo with bright red, and some gold leaves.

    In Steuben County:

    • 40% change in Corning , Hammondsport , and Hornell with bright red, orange, and yellow leaves.

    In Tioga County:

    • 5% change in Owego with some orange and yellow leaves.

    In Tompkins County:

    • 20% transition in Ithaca and Trumansburg .

    In Wayne County:

    • 20% in Lyons with shades of yellow and dark red. Areas closer to Lake Ontario are seeing more pops of yellow and orange.

    In Yates County:

    • 20% change in Penn Yan with orange and red shades.

    Chautauqua-Alleghany

    In Cattaraugus County:

    • 25% change throughout most of the county, with maroon and orange hues.
    • More than 30% at Allegany State Park in Salamanca with individual maple trees showing some color, particularly in the picnic areas.

    In Chautauqua County:

    • 20% change with average to bright orange and yellow along Chautauqua Lake , at Chautauqua Institution , in the city of Jamestown , and along Lake Erie .

    Greater Niagara

    In Erie County:

    • 15% change in Buffalo with plum, red, and gold leaves, especially in treetops.
    • 15% in East Aurora with muted pockets of gold and red.

    In Genesee County:

    • 10% change in Batavia with a few muted yellow and orange leaves.

    In Niagara County:

    • 20% in Lewiston with mostly bright yellow leaves.
    • 15% change in Niagara Falls .

    In Orleans County:

    • 5-10% change in Albion with hints of red and orange leaves.

    In Wyoming County:

    • 25% change in Warsaw with yellow leaves of varying brilliance, and shades of orange and red.

    Thousand Islands-Seaway

    In Jefferson County:

    • 20% change in Alexandria Bay and seasonal colors.

    In Oswego County:

    • 25% average change across the county with red and orange leaves. Shades of green continue to dominate the southern corner of the county, while bright orange and red hues are transforming the northern landscape.

    In St. Lawrence County:

    • 10% change in Ogdensburg with a few fall colors and some early leaf droppage.
    • 10% color change in Canton with orange leaves and touches of purple.
