POTSDAM & WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) –SUNY Potsdam and Jefferson Community College have announced in a press release a new articulation agreement allowing students to transition from earning their associate degrees at JCC, to their baccalaureate at Potsdam. The new AS/BS program in public health can be completed in four years.

SUNY Potsdam and JCC’s agreement is designed to guarantee that college credits completed at JCC are accepted at Potsdam. Helping students maintain a direct college path to their 4-year institution without needing unrelated credits to their program of study.

According to Potsdam, JCC students who are completing an associate degree in healthcare management or human services can receive guaranteed admission to SUNY Potsdam’s Bachelor of Science degree program in public health. The program, with dedicated advising, is designed so that they can complete all the remaining coursework needed to finish their undergraduate studies within two years.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said employment in public health fields is projected to increase 12% to 28% over the next decade. The degree prepares students for careers in health education, social and community service leadership, and medical and health services management, or for further graduate study.
