    NNY high school football preview: October 10-12, 2024

    We’re into Week Six of high school football across Northern New York.

    The playoffs in Section 3 and Section 10 will be coming soon and teams are jockeying for positioning.

    Keep up with all the local high school football action with North Country Football Fever

    Lowville and Canastota will kick things off with a Thursday night matchup. Here’s a breakdown of all the games in North Country Football Fever.

    Thursday, October 10

    Canastota (4-1) at Lowville (3-2), 7 p.m.: It’s another prime Class C East game as the Raiders play the Red Raiders. Lowville beat Adirondack, 20-16, in last week’s game. Canastota outlasted Holland Patent, 16-12.

    Friday, October 11

    Watertown (3-2) at Corcoran (4-1), 6 p.m.: It’s a big Section 3 Class A National division game between the Cyclones and Cougars. Watertown is coming off a 72-23 loss to Indian River while Corcoran dropped Rome Free Academy, 38-13, last week.

    Gloversville (2-3) at Beaver River (3-2), 6 p.m.: Beaver River was supposed to play Hannibal in a Class D game, but the Warriors didn’t have enough players. Section 2 Gloversville steps in to make the trip to Lewis County.

    St. Lawrence Central (0-5) at Massena (1-4), 6 p.m. : Both the Larries and Red Raiders are coming off loses last week. SLC lost, 47-7, to Gouverneur. Massena was shut out, 46-0, by Ogdensburg Free Academy last week.

    Carthage (5-0) at Central Valley Academy (2-3), 6:30 p.m.: It’s a Section 3 Class B East game as the Comets travel to the Mohawk Valley to play the Thunder. Carthage blew out Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, 50-14, while CVA beat Camden, 34-21.

    Thousand Islands (1-3) at Sauquoit Valley (1-3), 6:30 p.m.: The Vikings square off with the Red Hawks. TI lost its third straight game after falling, 48-22, to Bishop Grimes. Sauquoit edged New York Mills, 26-22, for its first win of the season last time out.

    Homer (2-3) at Indian River (4-1), 7 p.m.: The Trojans make the trek to Philadelphia to play the Wolves in a Class B West game. Homer lost, 16-6, last week to Syracuse Institute of Technology Central.

    Holland Patent (3-2) at General Brown (5-0), 7 p.m.: We see a big Section 3 Class C East game between the Golden Knights and the Lions. General Brown topped Little Falls, 30-12, in the last game.

    Oswego (0-3) at South Jefferson (3-1), 7 p.m.: The Buccaneers make the trip to Adams to play the Spartans in a Class B2 game. Oswego last played against Beaver River on September 27 and lost a shortened game, 33-0. South Jeff defeated Cortland, 49-26, in its last game.

    Mount Markham (5-0) at Sandy Creek (3-1), 7 p.m.: It’s a pivotal Class D game between the Mustangs and the Comets. Mount Markham blew out Pulaski, 61-16, while Sandy Creek beat Canajoharie/Fort Plain of Section 2, 35-24.

    Gouverneur (3-1) at OFA (3-1), 7 p.m.: It’s a bigtime Section 10 rivalry as the Wildcats travel to face the Blue Devils. Both teams will be in the mix for their respective Class titles.

    South Lewis (2-2) at Morrisville-Eaton (3-1), 7 p.m.: It’s an 8-Man North/West Division game between the Falcons and Mavericks. SL ditched Clinton, 42-22, while M-E outscored Tupper Lake, 54-24.

    Tupper Lake (3-1) at Weedsport (1-3), 7 p.m.: The Lumberjacks make the long trip to face the Wolverines in 8-Man play. Weedsport rolled past Utica Notre Dame, 52-8, last week.

    Saturday, October 12

    Malone (1-4) at Canton (2-3), 1:30 p.m.: The lone Saturday game has the Huskies and Golden Bears looking to bounce back from losses. Malone fell, 26-14, to Plattsburgh while Canton was topped by rival Potsdam, 32-7.

    Bye week: Potsdam
