Pedestrian shoots driver in Jaguar after argument in Panorama City, LAPD says

A man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being shot while driving in Panorama City overnight, authorities said.

The incident happened around 1:20 a.m. Friday near Van Nuys Boulevard and Nordhoff Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities say the man was driving southbound on Van Nuys Boulevard in a Jaguar sedan when he got into some sort of argument with a pedestrian, who then opened fire and shot the man.

The victim lost control of the car and slammed into an iron fence outside of an apartment complex. At least one parked car was struck in the crash.

The circumstances that led to the verbal altercation between the shooter and the driver were unclear, the LAPD said.

One woman who declined to be publicly identified said she heard as many as 10 gunshots, followed by the crash that sounded "like an explosion."

The shooter remained at large Friday afternoon. A description of the suspect was not available.
