A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of a firefighter who was critically injured in a truck crash in Orange County last week.Matthew Nichols is in a coma fighting for his life after Thursday's rollover crash on the 241 Freeway in Irvine.At the time, eight firefighters were returning from a 12-hour shift on the front lines of the massive Airport Fire.Eight firefighters were rushed to nearby hospitals after an Orange County truck for wildfire crews crashed in Irvine.A vehicle ahead of the fire truck swerved to avoid a ladder and the truck swerved too, striking the guardrail on the right shoulder and overturning multiple times, according to the California Highway Patrol.Eight firefighters were injured in the incident, six of them critically.Nichols and his wife have a 6-month-old son named Theodore. A 13-year-old boy was booked into a Riverside County juvenile detention center after being suspected of making criminal threats on social media, police announced Tuesday.A school threat assessment and response" investigation was begun late Monday evening after Central Middle School parents reported an Instagram post depicting a student with a possible firearm and a list of classmates' names, according to the Riverside Police Department.Investigators conducted a search at the boy's residence, where a toy gun was recovered. A man armed with a pipe was fatally shot by Fontana police in a shopping center parking lot after he allegedly assaulted a civilian and an officer, authorities said.Video circulating online also shows an officer repeatedly punch the suspect on the ground. Pedestrian struck during high-speed chase in LA; suspect in custody
A pedestrian was struck by a driver who led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in the South Los Angeles area Tuesday night.The suspect allegedly hit the pedestrian with a red Lexus near Avalon Boulevard and 92nd Street and kept driving. The victim was rushed to a local trauma center in unknown condition.After hitting the pedestrian, the suspect kept driving and slammed into another driver in a black sedan.The chase ended near 73rd and Avalon when the suspect lost control and crashed. A 24-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested Friday on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography, and police believe there may be more possible victims.Tanner Shallahamer is accused of exchanging child pornography images and videos with 30-year-old Jonathan Garduno of Lake Forest.Garduno was arrested Sept. 7 after he allegedly tried to meet a 15-year-old girl.
