An off-duty parole officer shot a man who allegedly opened fire inside a Bronx lounge.

The suspect, 40-year-old Padrika Thompson, was kicked out of The Kutty Lounge in the Allerton section just after 1:45 a.m. Monday, police said.

Thompson then allegedly went to his car, got a gun, went back into the lounge, and started shooting.

A 37-year-old employee, a cook at the bar, was struck in the right leg. He is in stable condition at Jacobi Hospital.

An off-duty New York State parole officer was inside the bar and then returned fire at the suspect, striking him multiple times in in the torso.

Thompson apparently tried to flee the scene in his car but crashed into a pole nearby. He is in critical condition at the hospital.

Anna Fenston came from New Jersey to visit her sister, who lives near the club. She told Eyewitness News the chaotic early-morning scene was nothing new.

"One time I was at the window and it was like the wild, wild west. I never seen anything like that. Everybody had their guns out - running," she said.

The shot suspect was arrested on October 29, 2023 in connection with a shooting in the Bronx. He allegedly fired nine times at a 34-year-old man on White Plains Road, striking him in the buttocks.

The suspect was out on bail in that case with a return court date this week.

This man should have still been jailed. If he's been charged with discharging a firearm at someone. What makes you think you can trust him on a bail situation? He's gonna do the exact same thing. This could have been far off, whereas he could have killed someone. Thank God for the parole officer. The ending of this story would have been very tragic
