A federal judge rejected a New York State Trooper's assertion that former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was attempting to exact revenge on him.

The judge said in the decision that what Cuomo is said to have done to the trooper happened after the end of her job contract.

In 2022, the state cop sued Cuomo and his senior employees for allegedly talking to and touching her while on his protection detail.

Attorney General Letitia James later went into more depth about the claims, which led to Cuomo's resignation.

Two of Cuomo's Assistants Helped Hide What Happened

The cop also said that Melissa DeRoza and Rich Azzopardi, two of Cuomo's staffers, helped conceal what occurred. The statement identified both aides, but they were fired from the case in 2023.

The judge concluded; "the trooper did not prove the aides discriminated or reacted against her".

The plaintiff's claims of revenge against Cuomo were based on a statement the former governor made in February 2022 that he would "criminally prosecute his victims." But U.S. District Judge La Shann DeArcy Hall said that the threat would have happened after Cuomo had quit, whether it did or not.

    Yelling At The Editor

The plaintiff says that while DeRosa was Cuomo's chief of staff, he helped hide harassment by, for example, yelling at the editor of The Times Union for asking about Trooper 1's move to Cuomo's staff.

Hall said the plaintiff had not shown DeRosa had seen or heard about any alleged harassment, either directly from the plaintiff or from someone else.
