    NYPD Is Looking For a Man Who Stole $1,500 From a Brooklyn School

    A guy is being sought by police who say he broke into a school in Brooklyn on Saturday and stole about $1,500.

    The NYPD says the event took place at the Yeshiva & Misivta Tiferes Elimelech at 1650 56th Street around 3 a.m.

    Police say the suspect used tools for breaking in to get through a door in the back of the house.

    In a black t-shirt, blue pants, yellow sneakers, and a dark-colored bag, the man was last seen by police. He had long hair and was slim. The NYPD put out the following CCTV pictures of the man.


    Serious Crime In NYC Public Schools Increased By 16% According To New Study

    According to troubling new data looked at by The Post, serious crime in New York City public schools rose 16% last fiscal year. Burglaries and grand thefts went through the roof.

    Police records show that there were 402 major crimes recorded on school grounds in the fiscal year that ended on June 30, up from 346 in the previous year.

    More than half of the crimes were burglaries or big thefts.


    The Number of Grand Thefts

    The number of grand thefts went from 102 in fiscal year 2022 to 156 in fiscal year 2023, a 53% increase. The number of burglaries also went up by 76%, from 37 to 65.

    Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy in the Bronx was one of the schools that thieves were said to be after. It had at least 11 break-ins last school year.
