Details And Guide About Entry-Level Jobs

For some people, getting their first job can be very stressful. No matter how much experience you have, nothing really prepares you for the chaos and uncertainty of the working world when you're fresh out of college. Here are some basic facts about Dutch labor law before we go over the application process.

    Temporary Contracts

By their very nature, temporary contracts are just that—short. Usually, the contract specifies the exact start and stop dates. So, there isn't a set way to fire someone with a short contract. Even though they have a set end date, you can still end them early. Just keep in mind that a temporary contract becomes permanent after three fixed-term contracts with the same company, which is more than two years.

    Permanent Contracts

Long-term or permanent contracts don't have a set finish date. Because Dutch labor law is very protective, terminating a contract requires permission from the court, the employee insurance agency, or the worker.

TL;DR: If you have an extended contract, you can't be fired right away, and you can try to get your contract canceled if it was terminated without a good reason.

In both types of contracts, you have to give one month's notice. For contracts less than six months, there is no trial period. For contracts between six months and two years, there is a one-month trial period. You can only try out permanent contracts for a maximum of two months.
