Robert Tucker is the new Commissioner of the FDNY. He is the CEO of a private security business. Tucker was sworn in as governor on Monday at an event on Randall's Island.

Tucker's company, T&M, says that he is the secretary of the FDNY Foundation and a special fire commissioner of the City of New York. He's also on the New York City Police Foundation's Board of Trustees.

Tucker worked as a manager in law enforcement for many years before starting at T&M. He was even the special assistant to the district attorney of Queens County.

Tucker's Skills Go Beyond These Titles: NYC Mayor

The mayor, Eric Adams, said Tucker's skills go beyond these titles. He talked about his family, how he looked up to the FDNY as a child, and his first job at the FDNY's Central Park communication office.

If you look at Robert Tucker's resume, you will miss some of the important things he has done, like how his mother worked with Mayor Koch and how he first joined the department with wide eyes because he thought it was so cool and always wanted to do something to help the city, Adams said.

Former Commissioner of Fire Department

President of the Vulcan Society Regina Wilson said Tucker comes at a time when the department is making changes within itself.

Former Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh said she would step down in July, and she did so on August 7.

She wrote in an article on Medium that the department needs a commissioner who can give it their all every day. For 10 years, I gave that to the FDNY.
