Just before noon, Jose Lopez, 37, decided to flee from NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, according to the police.

Although the specific nature of Lopez's leg injury was unknown, authorities did confirm that he left the hospital on foot.

On August 29, Lopez was apprehended by police on East 150th Street and Gerard Avenue in West Concourse after they saw him riding a gas-powered motorcycle quickly on a public sidewalk.

    His Prior Attempts Were Unsuccessful

When he first attempted to flee from police, he crashed, according to cops. Police said that when he was taken into custody, they discovered a significant amount of drugs in his possession.

Several counts of drug possession, careless driving, failing to yield to a pedestrian, fleeing the scene of an accident with property damage, and hindering government administration are among the numerous allegations that Lopez is facing after that event.

According to court documents, he was charged on September 12th, right before he is said to have absconded, while still in the hospital.

Lopez is the most recent of several patients who were in nearby hospitals and managed to get out of DOC custody.
