According to Bronx authorities, New York City marshals seized nearly 100 marijuana plants on Thursday.

Marshals were summoned to serve an eviction notice located in a basement unit on Kelly Street on Wednesday.

Authorities were able to obtain cell phone footage showing 93 plants in a complex grow house with sophisticated lighting.

Twelve is the legal limit.

The plants were just starting to germinate, and the walls had already been removed.

Illegal Activities

PVC tanks were discovered by investigators within the flat. These grow houses may pose a risk.

In 2016, a gas leak caused an explosion that claimed the life of FDNY Chief Michael Fahy.

Mayor Eric Adams stated We've said it time and time again: the illegal guys are smart, but we're smarter.

Selling Marijuana Without a Permit

The seizure occurs as the city keeps up its campaign to stop the sale of marijuana without a permit.

To date, the city has seized marijuana valued at $68 million and padlocked 1,100 smoke businesses.
