    Long-term care facilities in Aberdeen and Watertown get state grants for technology

    The South Dakota Department of Human Services is awarding $2 million in technology equipment grants more than 70 long-term care providers across South Dakota.

    Two of the locations are in Aberdeen, four in Watertown and several are nearby.

    The state awarded 73 facilities around $2 million combined. More than 100 institutions applied for the funds, according to a release.

    “More than 4,000 residents and clients across the state will be directly impacted by the technology grant projects that we’ve been able to award,” Shawnie Rechtenbaugh, cabinet secretary for the South Dakota Department of Human Services said in a release.

    The grant funds were designated for the purchase of technology equipment to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of elderly residents and clients as well as to support health care workers. Awarded projects must be completed within one year from the date of the award.

    • Avantara Watertown, Watertown
    • Edgewood Assisted Living, Watertown
    • Jenkins Living Center, Watertown
    • Meadow Lake Assisted Living, Watertown
    • Bethseda Home, Webster
    • Wilmot Care Center, Wilmot
