A 50-year-old pedestrian who was hit and killed on U.S. Highway 101 in Thurston County Friday night has been identified, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, Denver J. Davis of Aberdeen was on the right shoulder of the highway when he was struck by a driver headed north.

Troopers say the driver “came to rest on the right shoulder” but later “continued from the scene.”

The driver, a 27-year-old Tennessee man who is suspected of driving under the influence, has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and hit and run injury or death, according to Thurston County jail information.

Davis died at the scene. Traffic in the area was slowed for more than two hours Friday night, according to State Patrol.
