ABILENE, Kan. (KSNW) — The city of Abilene is boasting a new attraction: the World’s largest “I Like Like” button.

The button was created by Abilene artist Jason Lahr of Fluters Creek Metalworks . The button is 6 feet in diameter, with a pin-back clasp and convex curve, featuring our 34th president and Kansas native son’s iconic campaign slogan, “I Like Ike.”

“Thank you to everyone who attended today’s unveiling ceremony and those who purchased commemorative ‘I Like Ike’ challenge coins,” says Julie Roller Weeks, Director of the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We look forward to welcoming visitors to this big attraction for many years to come.”

These Kansas candy stores are in the top 5 in the U.S.

It’s not the first “World’s Largest” attraction for Abilene and artist Jason Lahr. In 2022, Lahr completed the World’s Largest Belt Buckle.

The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau says the buckle has helped bring more visitors to the community. It has also been named one of the 15 Best Roadside Attraction by TravelAwaits Readers and the 2023 People’s Choice Award by the Travel Industry Association of Kansas .

Abilene has many other attractions, including the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum and the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad . You can also ride one of the oldest carousels still operating in the United States at the Dickson County Historical Society Heritage Center.
