Abilene ISD announced Patti Blue as associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction, according to a recent press release.

Blue replaces Dr. Ketta Garduno, who left AISD this summer after 14 years of service.

“Bringing Patti Blue back to Abilene is a win for Abilene ISD students, families, and schools,” Dr. John Kuhn, AISD superintendent, said in a press release Monday. “She will be instrumental in helping our district keep teaching and learning excellence at the core of everything we do.”

Blue most recently served as superintendent for Gustine ISD and brings with her over 33 years of education experience to Abilene, according to the media release.

Under her leadership, Gustine ISD increased dual credit and industry-based certification programs and improved its Texas Accountability System rating from "Improvement Required" to "Met Standard with Distinctions."

Throughout her years in education, Blue worked at Amarillo ISD and Abilene High School. She also worked as a curriculum consultant for Region 14 Education Service Center for 10 years.

Blue earned a bachelor's degree from Baylor University, a master's degree from Tarleton State University and a superintendent's certification from the University of Texas Permian Basin.
