    Still local: Downtown restaurant The Local to close and reopen in new location

    Contemporary Mexican restaurant The Local will be relocating to a new spot in downtown Abilene.

    The business announced Tuesday that Saturday will be their last night in their current location at 250 Cypress St.

    Their new space will be at 901 N. First Street — just down the road from the current spot.

    They will reopen in August, according to the Facebook announcement.

    "For a couple of years we have wanted to reimagine The Local with Chef Cody. We are thrilled about this next step. Please stay tuned for exciting updates as we make this move," the statement read.

    The Local requests the public to make reservations for their final night at www.sevenrooms.com/reservations/thelocal .

    Restaurant hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to midnight.

    The restaurant will celebrate its fifth anniversary in November.
