Macomb Police Moves Forward with Internal Investigation into March 16th Use of Deadly Force
Chief Jeff Hamer acknowledges State’s Attorney Matt Kwacala’s thorough review of the deadly force incident that occurred on March 16th, 2024 in Macomb. The Macomb Police Department’s internal investigation is underway. This process determines if the incident was within department policy, outside department policy, or accidental. The course of this investigation also determines training in topics pertinent to the incident.
Woman and her dog escape from East Moline structure fire Wednesday morning
EAST MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - A fire in East Moline damaged a home Wednesday morning. The fire initially started in a two-story home in the 1400 Block of 17th Street. Officials on the scene told our TV6 crew a woman and her dog were able to escape from the home.

Repair work begins on shopping center
Repair work has begun on the former Bracken’s Shopping Center building at Midland Plaza, but the building’s future is yet to be determined. Last week’s tornado damaged the building, and Keith Edwards, the city’s community development officer, said on Monday that the biggest threat to public safety is the awning around the building. Edwards said it would not have been safe to let customers of the businesses or patients of the dentist’s office to walk under the awning.
