Driver in deadly July 4th NYC crash arraigned on host of charges
NEW YORK - The man accused of killing three people when he allegedly drove drunk into a crowd on the Lower East Side on July 4th was arraigned on a host of charges Saturday. Daniel Hyden of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, manslaughter, assault and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Hyden was also driving with a suspended license, prosecutors said.Hyden, 44, appeared before a judge Saturday morning. Koren wins Congressman Pat Ryan’s Art Competition
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tabitha Koren, a rising senior at Spackenkill High School, has been named the winner of Congressman Pat Ryan’s Art Competition. Koren, of Poughkeepsie, was recently honored by Ryan at a ceremony in the Capitol. Koren won for her graphite and acrylic painting titled, “Monkey the Man.” As the NY-18 winner, Koren attended the Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony held Thursday, June 27th, at the U.S. Capitol Building. Koren’s artwork will be displayed at the Capitol for the next year.
Mount Academy wins gold medal in welding at National Skills USA event
Mount Academy welding students had previously won silver and bronze medals at the National Skills USA Leadership Conference. This year, The Mount took home the gold. The Mount recently won the gold medal in the Welding Fabrication competition at the event in Atlanta. Mount Academy’s team consisted of Ron Maendel, Roland Keiderling, and Rob O’Connell. The Welding Fabrication event tests competitors in areas such as blueprint reading and design, dimensional accuracy, functionality, weld appearance, and teamwork.

Grocery stores have pulled spinach packaged in Newburgh, New York from shelves due to a major health risk. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning over fresh spinach that was processed in the Hudson Valley and distributed to stores in New York.
