New Restaurant Moving Into Former Amici’s Spot In Poughkeepsie
Poughkeepsie's first-ever Latin and soul buffet restaurant opening this summer. It's been four years since Amici's closed at 35 Main Street in Poughkeepsie. The popular Italian restaurant had closed after 13 years, and it has been sitting empty ever since in the same building that houses Mahoney's Irish Pub & Steakhouse and many other businesses.
Burt To Throw For the DI Marist Red Foxes
Jersey Blues sophomore stand-out pitcher, Jake Burt (Wall High School), will continue his career as a Red Fox at DI Marist College. In the 2024 season, Burt accomplished a 10-0 record with a 3.48 ERA and 70 strikeouts in just 14 appearances. With those accomplishments, he earned All-GSAC Pitcher of the Year, First team All-GSAC, NJCAA DIII Second Team All-American, and NJCAA DIII First Team All-Region.

County Health Department Reminds Residents to Remove Standing Water and Use Repellents. The Westchester County Health Department announced that this season’s first batches of mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus in Westchester were found in Croton, Mount Vernon, Rye, White Plains and Yonkers. The Health Department will inspect areas surrounding the positive mosquito batches and if needed, treat any nearby catch basins that hold standing water to protect against further mosquito breeding nearby.
